I want to know...
« on: September 25, 2005, 10:57:43 PM »
My registration key was expired.
I registered myself again.
I downloaded the software again.
I installed the software again.
I tried to enter the new registration key again.
And again, again, again again, again again again...
I hoped i just to try enough times but nothing happened.
Again, again, again again, again again again...
I want to know... WHY???!!!!
I was happy with this great software for 1 year.
And i am sad with this stupid registration process for 1 hour.
I want to know... WHY???!!!!
Are here anybody who help me or do i have to find other software
and drop from the useful programs list?
Thanks,
a tired user

This is totally crap.
I reinstall first, and install from the scratch second.
The very sophisticated antivirus can't fight with itself and
denied the fresh of the database because my reg key expired.
what a pity

When you reinserted your new key how did you do it.  Did you use copy and paste or enter it manually.  Right click Avast icon - select about - select insert license key then paste.  It is important that there must be no preceeding or trailing spaces.

I can not see where the problem is unless by some chance your computor date has changed.  Are there any notifications or warnings when you paste the new code in..  My apologies for for not reading your initial post carefully

First of all, there was absolutely no need to download the program, uninstall it and install again. All you were expected to do was get a new license key and enter it into the About box.

So, when you enter the new key, what exactly happens?
Do you have the system date set correctly?

Essexboy,

No matter how many times or how many people on the Avast forum try to help other users or new members to resolve the problem, and allow new people to try an enjoy the great Avast product.

When the new person try hard to follow the instruction and support from all the great people here on the Avast forum, when new users or new members used the Avast product and get to a breaking point.

It always PEBKAC! from new users or new members, we tried so hard to help others to allow Avast product another chance :'(.

You could have saved a lot of time by asking here or checked out the avast! on-line FAQ.

I have to search in my system for a reason why i cant to do the usage of new reg key.
I found it. Something changed the system time.
So i dont want to use an antivirus program that cannot detect such activity on my computer.
I wait more than 25 minutes for an useful answer but i didnt get that.
So i changed to AntiVir and no longer use the avast.

i dropped this crap software from my list.
I would not have to say this but the one who consider avast! a crap does not deserv to be here.
I mean, we can help but the user must at least ask.
It's a pity that some users just ignore the best forum round and lose the best antivirus round.  :P

Avast is an antivirus. If anything change your system date and time BEFORE you install it, why do you think this is avast! fault.
25 minutes! Did you try any other antivirus forum? Go ahead, good luck.
Unfortunatelly I can't say welcome as I ALWAYS say to EVERY newbie here as you seem to don't be welcomen. Sorry, it's a pity.

There are many things that can legitimately change the system time and date, the user for a start, a bad time synchronisation how do you suggest an AV determines which is legitimate usage? The battery can be weak and your system date could revert to whatever bios default start date is on the next boot. I don't know of any AV that actively monitors a change in the system date.

So you waited a whole 25 minutes, this forum is one of the fastest responses of any support forum that I have frequented, even on a weekend you started getting responses.

But I think you had already made up your mind "Are here anybody who help me or do i have to find other software" on what to do.

There really is no need to threaten to leave to get us to try and help we are all avast! users (with one exception Igor who is with the Alwil Team who is here on a Sunday evening, rare in other forums) who volunteer our time to help other avast! users.

Ok. Besides David's considerations, there is the possibility that you've changed avast! settings and use a low security level. Just guessing.
Besides this, no one software could give you full protection. You need layered defense using the best of each one. Sometimes, wrong choices make even worse, messing the system.
Sorry, I don't want to start a fight, on contrary. But, calling forums lazy and avast! a piece of crap is not fair.

Hi to all my friends on avast.

How dare user1 come onto here and slag avast off.
I think the problem is between his ears.

User 1 you will be back, never come onto a forum, with that attitude, of course you have to wait.
