Avast created network adapters in Device Manager
« on: February 28, 2015, 03:46:14 PM »
Has anybody solved the following problem: "Avast created network adapters in Device Manager"? I'm trying to uninstall Avast internet security.
Please note I'm running Windows XP and tried both avastclear in safe mode and Revo uninstall.

I had the same problem when I uninstalled avast Internet Security.  What I did:

1. uninstall avast Internet Security.
2. Open "Device Manager" and expand the Network Adapters category.
3. Right click on the listed avast network controller (if more than one avast controller do this for each) and choose "uninstall".
4. Reboot the computer.

Worked for me.  Good luck . . .
Windows 10 (64bit); 8GB RAM; Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro; avast Free (latest version)

Hi Gandalf1369:
Just finished trying your idea. Same problems as before. Did try to uninstall the "Avast network adapters" but the computer wouldn't allow me to do even that. Had to restore my Sony VAIO laptop with Acronis 11. Glad I made a backup of the hard drive before I tried to get rid of Avast.

Thanks anyway,
