BProtect Trojan help removal
« on: March 02, 2015, 07:22:57 PM »
Hey guys,

I was doing some scans on C: when I came across these high threat results:

JS:BProtect-C
XML:BProtect-F
JS:BProtect-A
Win32:Adware-BRS
Win32:BProtect-D
XML:BProtect-B

After the scan, I can't seem to fix it automatically as the result indicated "Error: The operation is not supported for this type of archive.(42111)"

No wonder my laptop is getting slower recently. Any instructions on how to remove them?
Attached herewith are the necessary logs as requested

I see you have AdwCleaner, have you run it yet ?

CAUTION :  This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

I think I did run the scan but didn't apply any actions yet. I was browsing a similar case posted here at the forums and saw the advise on running the AdwCleaner. But I also saw the post in "Logs to assist in cleaning malware" to NOT run any other tools or scans whilst being helped so, uh, yeah, that's why. Should I run it now?

BTW, the log has been attached below.

Hi,

I scanned for the C: again and fortunately, those pesky BProtect Trojan viruses were not detected anymore. There are 2 items however, one is low and the other is medium a threat, detected but at least the BProtect were gone. And the two detected were easily fixed. Thanks for the help.

The funny thing though, is when I tried to scan using AdwCleaner, the program freezes when it reaches 90-95%. It specifically freezes when its already scanning for web browsers. I tried to uninstall and restart my laptop but the same thing happens all the time. The program keeps on not responding as it scans for web browsers. Last time I used the AdwCleaner, it finished the scan but I didn't click the clean button. Should I be concerned?

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Could you try AdwCleaner once more please.  Get a fresh copy

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Scan.
  • After the scan is complete click on "Clean"
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

I tried to uninstall the AdwCleaner and download a new one. I also restarted my laptop prior to installing it but the same thing happened. I took a screen shot after it stopped working. Any idea why this happens?

OK lets see if we can bypass that by using a different tool to clear the main bits

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator" the tool will open and start scanning your system
  • please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
Then try AdwCleaner

I was able to run Junkware Removal Tool, but AdwCleaner still freezes. I attached the JRT.txt and another screenshot of AdwCleaner

I got the scanning process finished as well as the cleaning part. I was able to get past the scanning by leaving it on for quite some time after it became "Not responding". I wasn't probably patient enough to let the whole scanning to finish. My bad. The adwcleaner log is attached below

It appears that you may have a large user.js in FF

How is the computer now ?

User.js is where adware usually places itself in Firefox so that it is always present

Subject to no further problems   :)

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset  System Restore points:

Remove tools

Download and run Delfix

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select  Remove Java Runtime.  Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

CryptoPrevent install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware

Malwarebytes.

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Unchecky

Click on the link above to be taken to Unchecky.com
click the very large Download button.
click Save
Click Open folder
Right click on the Unchecky_setup and choose to Run as Administrator
Once open click the Install button.
Then click on Finish
Unchecky is now installed and will help you keep unwanted check boxes unchecked, this is a fire and forget programme  ;)

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

My pleasure, AdwCleaner has now been updated based on the freezing report you gave :)
