If youre not using Defender you do not really need to install it :)

I disabled Windows Defender shortly after getting my Windows 7 machines, and I haven't been offered the Defender definitions updates since.  Have you disabled Windows Defender?

You had better go and re-disable Defender as it's obviously been enabled again because you wouldn't receive updates for it otherwise.

If you at some time had removed or disabled Avast then Defender will turn itself on again.
