WINDOWS 8.1 - need to restart
« on: March 18, 2015, 12:50:04 AM »
Hi

I've just bought a Lenovo laptop and I bought AVAST Pro for protection. But everytime I enter 'Tools' it says under SafeZone and Firewall that a restart will be activated by a restart, but I have restarted several times and it gives me the same message. When I enter "Settings" it says everything is activated, so I don't know what to believe???

Did the 'new laptop' come with Pre Installed Anti Virus (most do). And did you uninstall before installing Avast.

I don't think so - There was some McAfee stuff, but I have uninstalled that (I think that was after installing Avast).

On start site of the Avast interface it says everything is on, but still under 'Firewall' under 'Tools' it says something like this: "We recommend you reboot your system. Some Firewall features will only work after a reboot." - I've rebooted several times, but the message doesn't change.

Do I have to turn off the Windows Firewall in Windows Defender? Will this help?

Remove McAfee completely:

Remove avast completely:

Reboot

Run CCleaner for files and registry cleanup

Reboot

Install the latest avast version
