MBAM 2.1.4 Database Updating? (RESOLVED)
« on: March 31, 2015, 03:40:08 PM »
I installed MBAM 2.1.4 the other day and have not been able to update the Signatures Database.  I've tried 3 times to no avail.  It is stuck at the 2015.03.09.05 version.  Anyone else experience this?

No problem here on that version, see image for program version and database version.

It is a little strange, but your indicated database version 2015.03.09.05 appears to pre-date the latest program version, so this could have been going on longer.

This will fix it:

I got this latest version from where I've always gotten all of my previous MBAM versions without any problem ... FileHippo.  Who knows?  Maybe this time I got a flawed / corrupt version.  I guess I'll try downloading it from a different source.

Alikhan ... that's not a fix.  That's just a Removal Process.  I'm not having trouble removing it.  I simply want to update the Signatures Database.

Maybe. Mine, Premium version, is working flawlessly in my old XP. As a matter of fact is even poping up the alerts when MBAM has updated, and that never did before ;D

The fix for your problem of not updating would be a clean install using the MBAM removal tool.

There's also no problem with the FileHippo download of Malwarebytes as last night and this morning it downloaded - installed and is working fine for me.

Guess I'm a bit late to the party, but there have been no issues for me with MBam Premium (latest) on  xpSP4 here and updates.
I think a 'clean install' that was suggested is the resolution. :)

What CraigB said.

Using mbam-clean tool would remove MBAM completely. You would then re-install MBAM and that will fix the issue. You can even look at the Malwarebytes forum and that is what is recommended for these types of issues.

The reason I stated it is because I've had this issue before and using the mbam-clean tool to do a clean install worked for me.

Okay, I'll try it a little bit later and see what happens.

I've also noticed what appears to be a flaw in all the versions after 1.75.  Even when I've updated to the latest signatures on any given occasion, I'll still get a popup down at the bottom right claiming that MBAM is out of date and to click on that button to update it.

So you've obviously had a problem with Malwarebytes for a long time so well and truly time for a clean install :)

I ran the MBAM Clean Tool and then reinstalled MBAM. (Free)  I clicked to update.  As usual, it appears to go through the motions of updating the signature database.  The Progress Bar shows the progress and the update process seemingly completes.  The Database Version just doesn't change to reflect that MBAM is now up to date.

It yet again is stuck at Database Version v2015.03.09.05.

I don't know.  Maybe I do need to try another download of MBAM from a different source.
Or go back down to version 2.0.4.
