Allow Push Notifications through Avast Firewall
« on: April 25, 2015, 08:48:19 PM »
I'm using Avast Internet Security 2015 (2015.10.2.2218) on a Windows 8.1 Pro laptop. A number of Windows apps use Push Notifications, and while the main functionality of the apps work fine, the push notifications aren't getting through the Avast firewall (the apps have permission in the firewall, but I think the notifications use some a different windows service?). What settings (eg opening firewall ports) are needed to get this to work?

thanks,

Look at the log file of the firewall and see what is blocked.

Thanks - should have thought of that before! Have unblocked anything that was getting an entry in the log each time the push notification warning message came up, and still no change. Can't have been a firewall issue.
