Recent version of Avast [4/15]; Uninstalled MSE before installing Avast. There was a trial running with malwarebytes...not sure if that implies real time protection.
On startup this XP-SP3 laptop doesn't BSOD...just so sluggish I can't start task manager.
I can start in safe mode without problem.
The laptop belongs to my 88 year old step mother so a new operating system is too steep a learning curve.
Avast has reeked havok on other PC's I have...an XP and a Win7...but it works fine on others so I stick with it...but I'm open to using avast-clear to ditch it if a suitable replacement is out there...reviews indicate all of them have problems.
