Potential False Positive From Windows Update
« on: June 25, 2015, 01:25:08 PM »
I got an Avast alert today for the following file.

http://au.download.windowsupdate.com/c/msdownload/update/software/defu/2015/06/mpas-fe_bd_3b1f7169e267483be6fb7a7dff380d9ebb35eb09.exe

It was detected as "[L] Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] (0)". I can't access the URL and I think it was blocked from download so I can't run it against Virus Total. Someone else has submitted the same name at least and it comes up clean: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/2c5eb68366eb4fe73476fc8fc95ba6113d2c13604bea19c837c9e722e06cb48e/analysis/. Appears to be a Windows Defender update.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
