Trying to use Grime Fighter, but screen is just black with underscore

 I just purchased Grime Fighter as my computer's been extremely slow recently, but when I try to use it my computer re-starts, but the screen is just black with an underscore blinking at the top left. Then nothing happens! The keyboard doesn't work and I can't even shut off the computer. I've tried three times now, let it blink for over an hour and nothing happens! WTH?
Have I wasted my money?

Ofcourse you can shutdown the computer.
Just hold the power button till it shutdown.

After that boot the system and let us know what happens.

I have turned off my computer several times, but then nothing happens with Avast. If I try to use the Grime Fighter again it re-starts and  all I get is that black screen with a blinking underscore.

When booting, are you getting the option to choose between booting GrimeFighter and Windows?
If you do choose Windows.

If you don't, get and run Farbar and attach the logs to your next post.
