Disable Blue screen Scan at startup???
« on: November 23, 2005, 06:15:51 PM »
Everytime it starts it does an entire virus scan of the entire hard drive. This takes a LOT of time. I made the mistake of checcking this option when I installed avast. HOW Can I disable this feature?

Would a deinstall/reinstall be required?

thanks.
btw Running winxp

Everytime?

The Schedule Boot-Time scan is a one off scan and not every boot.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

How to disable scan at boot?

Could you please start regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager, select the value BootExecute and export it to a file? If you could post the file as an attachment here we could check what could be wrong there.

In XP, if you press F8 when starting Windows and select 'Last known good configuration' from the boot menu, the boot scan should not be started.

Scheduling the Boot Time Scan twice will unschedule!

Click on the Menu button.
Choose Schedule Boot Time Scan.
Doing so displays a dialog allowing you to schedule virus scanning.
Click the Schedule button to confirm the settings.
If you do it twice, an option for disabling the schedule will appear.
