How do I hide the launchbar Avast icon?

Apps that do display on menu bar do not also have to "spam" the launchbar but it seems that Avast does.

Preferences > Miscellaneous > "Show Avast icon in menu bar" checkbox

The user is referring to the dock icon when the GUI is running.

You can simply quit the app in the dock, avast remains running in the background with the menu bar item.
