"Remove folder" sounds to me like the trash bin.

To be clear to everybody, this 'Folder' only appears in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVAST Software\Avast\PUB-Removed.

I have obviously had an infection by a virus at some stage (which does not now show up anywhwere whatever virus checker I use- and I have used many now!) and I cannot delete the entries here despite having all the necessary permisions.

I was hoping that somebody here would have run across this problem before - but it would seem not?

Any help that anyone viewing could give would be greatly appreciated...

If you had the correct permission(s), you could remove it.
I have a strong idea on why you can't remove them, but let us check something first.

Do you have things in the virus chest ?
And please attach a screenshot of the content of those keys.

Nothing in the virus chest - I don't have any way of doing a screenshot but have a text file of the folder contents.

Ofcourse you can create a screenshot.

There is a PrintScrn button on your keyboard  ;)
- Hit it
- Open paint (or any other image editor)
- Select > paste as new image

The entries do seem to be pup's to me.

Try this:
- Disable avast self defense
- Try to empty the keys (do not delete the keys themselfs)

Do not forget to enable the avast self defense again !

Create a backup of your Registry before making changes. :) (Just in case. )
