And what is the error message ? More info, more chance that you will get the answer... what are other security related programs installed on your system ? What is the firewall you use ? Because, it's more than likely that your firewall is blocking itunes and not avast!

avast! is an antivirus, not firewall...

Which version of avast are you using?
And which virus database version?
Did you search the board for itunes and quicktime?

Hi Justin, great to know that it's working fine on your system... so it's not that avast! blocks it in any way. Ugh, I just remembered I had it installed with Quicktime some time ago... and I've never had any problems with it. It's just I hated it because it took all those media file associations without even asking me first. What was even more annoying, there was no chance to find and change those file associations inside some settings/configurations page... so I uninstalled it, but I remember it was working fine.

I bet (99% I'm sure) what's blocking itunes on laureljeana's computer is a firewall, not avast! because avast! do not block programs, avast! is not an firewall, avast! is just an antivirus.

Also, feedback from laureljeana would be greatly appreciated.  ;) Please answer those questions we asked up there, even if you solved your problem it would be nice to let us know so it can help some other people potentially experiencing same problems...

Cheers !

S.Z. Craftec during installation you have the option of making I Tunes your default media player or not.

Yes and even though I specifically said I don't want it to be my default player, it still took ever some of most important file extensions...

Anyway, maybe something is solved in latest releases, I used to use one of those earliest ones...

That is possible. When I told it I didn't want it to be my default player it left everything alone. So maybe it was an issue with an older version.

Hi, Please Make sure you are useing itunes version 6.0.1
And the latest version of quicktime for windows (run the quicktime updater)
Some Versions of Itunes 5 and 4.9.x had isues with some Antivirus software (Apple has corrected this in the latest verion of iTunes)

If you are running the latest version check your firewall as S.Z.Craftec said to make sure it is not blocking Itunes outbound communication
