Malware detected - hopefully I used the tools right!

Just a neewbie here with a problem. During my travels I might have downloaded a program that contained a worm of some sort. At first I thought my computer was safe when Avast informed it had blocked the file right after I downloaded it. Some of the program got installed, because I was stupid, and then a whole hell broke loose. Avast started to detect threats and blocking files by every second and suddenly a big blue window blasted on top of everything. It said "upgrade available 4.0.something" and buttons "install" and "ok". Right after that Avast suggested boot scan. I did it and unpluged my PC from the internet. After boot scan nothing out of ordinary happened but right after I put the internet back on, Chrome popped open without me lifting a finger and it showed a page for easy jobs; shitty ad pages basically. After that Avast suggested boot scan again. I did it again but this time after it was done I uninstalled Chrome and some other softwares that had been installed to my PC the same day. They had some obvious names too, like "MYSALES.exe" or something among those lines. Basically it seems to have been an adware.

I came across the tools suggested on this forum and I did what the topic told me to. All I want to know, that is my PC safe for now and is there an alternative for Chrome that doesn't get that easily bugged?

All browsers are susceptible to hijacking at the moment Chrome is the most vulnerable, but it changes all the time

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

• Close all open programs and internet browsers.
• Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  
• Click on Scan.
  
• After the scan is complete click on "Clean"
• Confirm each time with Ok.
  
• Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
• Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
• You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S0].txt as well.

Just a quick question before I do anything: what does this fix do to Buyee? I personally know this plugin and installed it way before this happened and am willing to keep it. (Helps me to buy stuff from Japanese amazon )

I tried to do this but no matter where I run it with the fixlist, FRST.exe stops responding after I click "fix".
However I ran the AdwCleaner and it deleted some files. Log is in the attachements.

I haven't used Chrome since it was uninstalled. For now I've been using Firefox and it hasn't done anything out of ordinary. I wonder if it's safe to download Chrome back now?

You can do that but was it synchronised ?

Yeah I was signed in Chrome when the attack happened. Some of my bookmarks weren't saved and I cleaned all browser history including saved passwords. But I haven't signed in on any other device.

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems 

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean  :thumbsup:

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset  System Restore points:


Remove tools

Download and run Delfix
Select the options as shown

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean
