Can't disable DeepScreen, even with all protection off.
« on: April 27, 2016, 08:57:00 PM »
I'm trying to install Delphi library JVCL/JCL, which build its own installations .exe on the fly, causing DeepScreen to trigger. So, first I disable all Avast protection for 1 hour. DeepScreen is off.

I was not able to complete the task due to phone calls, and Avast activated protection back.

So I try to disable only DeepScreen, without success. Every time I launch install.bat, an .EXE is generated, and DeepScreen is triggered.

I also rebooted machine, and try to disable whole protection again: Deep Screen is still interfering.

Now, a command prompt that launches the generated install.exe is frozen, I can't even close the task from TaskManager or using TaskKill utility.

I'm using Avast Internet Security 11.1.2253

How are you trying to disable DeepScreen ?
e.g. AvastUI > Settings > General > uncheck the DeepScreen option and OK your way out.

The latest version of avast is 11.2.2262 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=185928.0, so it may be worth your while to ensure you have the latest version.

As info:
Disabling the shields is not disabling deepscreen.
Next to that, if you disable the shields  they will be enabled again after a few minutes without any notification.
Only after disabling them for the second time they will stay disabled.
No clue who at avast thought this was a bright idea to program it that way, but it really sucks if you ask me.

Sure, disabling the shields is a risk.
But the user is asked if he is sure that it is what he wants to do.
If the user says yes they should be and stay disabled and not enabled again and certainly not without a notification.

Right click the orange ball near the clock > shields > disable x-minutes/till reboot/for ever
This is with the free cloud business version (2509)

Hmm and if you disable permanently then it turns on again after few minutes?
I tried on consumer and there it works fine. I will notify my colleagues from business..

If my understanding is correct, Avast Business Security Cloud frequently contact with its cloud server and set client-side settings back to server-side settings.
I had this before, and found out I have to change settings in the cloud console, not in the client. Including shields enable/disable.

I think that is the cause of automatic re-enabling shields.
