You need to remove a av completely before installing another.

Okay, been away from the computer for a while, but as far as I know, all my anti-virus programs have been removed, and yet, when I tried to install AVAST again this morning, low and behold, what did I get? Yup, you guessed it, the same Damn error! so I went back into safe mode, and ran a new scan, and here's the results.

I have no idea, it did have another hard drive originally, but it got damaged, and removed, so this is just how they set it up.

OK run this fix and then run the uninstall tool again

CAUTION :  This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Quote
2016-04-28 08:43 - 2016-04-28 08:43 - 00000000 ____D G:\Program Files\AVAST Software

Save this as fixlist.txt, in the same location as FRST.exe

Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

Hmm I think this will need something like revo to ensure that all references to Avast are gone ...  I will think on how to do this

Download Revo uninstaller from here http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Then try to install Avast, it will probably fail but try it anyway.

Then use Revo to remove all traces of Avast.

Reboot run avast uninstall utility
Now try and install Avast
