Windows 7 not booting
« on: May 13, 2016, 08:30:50 AM »
my computer isn't booting and stops at aswrvrt.sys when in safe mode research says it is a problem with avast so I'm here, my windows 7 is dual booted so I boot into linux and deleted avast folder and all the aws drivers and windows stopped booting after classpnp and now blue screens, I restored all the files to their place before the delete so I'm still stuck at the same place. I ran chkdsk C: /r (windows is on my c drive and linux is on a partition of that C drive)  and the results say 0 bad sectors. I doubt it is a hard drive problem as it was working all day until I had to reinstall linux which shouldn't affect it as it is on a different partition.Would really love some help, been trying to fix this all day. Thanks

A malware expert has been contacted for you.  You've to wait for a bit.

You should be able to work with your windows files and/or documents using Linux or Linux live cd?
Windows 10 Home 64-bit 22H2 Avast Premier Security version 24.1.6099 (build 24.1.88821.762)  UI version 1.0.797

Check that in the BIOS the drive is set to either IDE or SATA.  Whichever it is switch to the other and try a boot

Not sure if I get you, I have one drive and according to the BIOS it is SATA, the bios however doesn't allow for much customization,I changed the sata operation setting from AHCI to ATA and not only does it stop but it now blue screens so I switched back, I see no option for IDE mode, hopefully that information is useful to you

What it is that by removing the Avast drivers and still getting the failed boot is sometimes down to the drive set up

classpnp may be worth looking at some of these http://www.dllsuite.net/QA/Classpnp_sys_Starting_Windows_Error/
