pop ups for chrome
« on: May 26, 2016, 10:43:41 AM »
Recently I have been getting almost daily pop-ups promoting chrome and other unwanted stuff. Is there a way to disable this or are there free anti-virus programs available without this annoying function?

Please (re)search before posting.
Your question has been asked and answered many times already.

You can disable pop-ups in the paid versions.
You can also (not recommended) set avast to silent-/gaming mode.

You can always use Defender from Microsoft. I have no problems closing the occasional popup in Avast in return for effective protection.
Defender may not have any popups but, it doesn't give you the same protection. Your computer, your choice.

This is where you can confirm that fact:
Avast Free Antivirus has nearly 100% detection rate and no false positives
