AVAST causing network errors
« on: June 05, 2016, 03:51:16 PM »
Since the latest update of avast (as far as i can track) i am getting warnings from devices with web based mangement about failed login attempts.

Tracking this down led to me find that avast is now doing a HTTP scan on my network for a number of suspect cgi files. As devices with web -based management have been configured to send alarms on authentication failure, those scans trigger a significant amount of alarms. In a single day those alarms can be over 200 in my small home network.

I also do not want to disable the warnings on those network devices, as those give me valuable information when an attacker tries to break-in. Especially because that means he has managed to get through the firerwall.

How can I control the network scan that avast is doing?

Cheers

Rudy

You can add file types extension as: *exe (for example) to
the File System Shield

Dell Dimension 8200 P4 1.8Ghz Windows XP PRO SP3
Avast Free Antivirus 18.8.2356
Toshiba Satellite C855-S5347 Celeron B830 1.8Ghz
Windows 10 Home 64 Bit Version 1909 Build 18363.900
Avast Free Antivirus 20.4.2410 Build 20.4.5312.578

Thanks, that may be the way to do it. Will test  that, although we are talking about excluding url here, and not about file type extensions. avast is really doing HTTP GET on a number of internal devices which is triggering alarms.
