Hard reset protection
« on: June 28, 2016, 05:31:36 AM »
Hello, I installed Avast anti theft in my phone (unrooted).
I know that root is required to get 'hard reset protection' but I even can't see it in avast anti theft app now. I also couldn't see Avast antitheft (root) app in play store.

Is this feature available in v4?
Will I see Avast anti theft (root) app in google play store if I root my phone?
(i am thinking to root my phone to get this feature)

Thank you

Protection from a hard reset is technically not possible.

I read the link you provided. I had installed the rooted version once and tested it by hard resetting my phone. I It had worked fine. I learnt that rooted version kept its files in the partition which won't be affected during hard reset and it could work again.
Now, Avast has stopped developing rooted version. It is sad as it was the best feature in Avast AT.

Thank you for your reply. I got my answer.

Thanks Eddy for providing an explanation! Regarding to root support, we know that it was very popular feature, but unfortunately with new devices and android versions it's still harder to get root access. Thus, also amount of users who are using this feature in AAT is declining and that's why we decided to focus more on things like full Android M support, etc.. (which is also very challenging).
