Help new to AVAST
« on: January 19, 2006, 07:20:21 PM »
A couple of weeks ago I got the Spysheriff Virus and my PC hasn't been the same since. My internet (cable) has ben running poorly off and on since I cleaned it out.  My internet company supplied me with AVAST and I love it because it found many Viruses that Symantech did not.  I don't want to make this too confusing but I have Hi-Jack this now and want to post my registry to see if somebody who knows what they are looking at can help me out. here it is.

A google search for SpySheriff removal returns many hits, this is just one of them SpySheriff Removal

Here is an on-line analysis of your log http://hijackthis.de/logfiles/0d89187b407f077d73f70df170a8fef7.html there are a number of things to check out, you can scan the suspect files via the paperclip icons.

You don't appear to have a software firewall, this is essential if tyou are to stop this sort of infection/reinfection.

To add to what David suggest, you need to stop the Windows Messenger. This is not needed by most users and was meant mostly for multiple users such as corporations and IT's. Do not confuse this with MSN Messenger as it is not the same program. Click the link below to stop this service. The link includes instructions for all all Windows versions.

 :)  Hi Kazjason :

Spy Sherrif is a SPYWARE program, not a virus. Usually
help from an HijackThis Expert on an antiSPYWARE forum
is best. Since you have Ad-Aware, I would suggest you
     go the forums at : www.landzdown.com .
