Win32:Trojan-gen {vc} usmbwx.exe
« on: January 24, 2006, 03:44:31 AM »
Hello,

I seem to have a trojan that won't go away.  It came from a file that I thought was a Limewire setup file.  I scanned the file with Avast before I opened the file, but it found nothing then.  I opened the file and my AIM went crazy.  It started messaging everyone on my list.  I scanned my computer and it found something and I deleted it, but I forget what it was.  Now everytime I bootup I get a warning for a file called esmbwx.exe in my c:\ drive.  It keeps coming back even though I keep sending it to the chest.  I searched Google about this file, but found nothing.  Is this a false alarm or a real virus?  And how dangerous is it.  I was planning on reformatting anyway, but I left my discs at my parents house so it will be another 3 weeks before I can do that.  Will I be able to live with this in the meantime?  And my AIM seems to be fine now, but I worry about this file.
