Avast Chrome Plugin blocks scrolling
« on: August 16, 2016, 01:59:05 PM »
Here is the link to an article
http://www.popmech.ru/science/256102-10-vydayushchikhsya-uchyenykh-pogibshikh-pri-zagadochnykh-obstoyatelstvakh/

The article allows scrolling the pictures by clicking on arrows (see the pic attached).
However Avast plugin in Chrome disallows scrolling, which means that one is unable to scroll unless the plugin is switched off.

I wonder if this is really supposed to work this way?

I don't know why it wouldn't work in Chrome, but it does work with Firefox and the avast Security Browser Extension installed and enabled.

Do you have any Chrome Extensions installed that may be impacting on browsing ?
I use NoScript and RequestPolicy (blocks access to 3rd party sites) firefox add-ons and I do have to allow certain sites to get the arrows to work.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Ok, here is the proof:
https://youtu.be/0yNjV4Kbrkw

1. Firstly, in the video I show that scrolling does not work in Chrome
2. Then I show that it does work in Microsoft Edge
3. Then I disable 1 of 2 security plugins in Chrome that potentially may lead to freezing for scrolling, that is Adguard plugin. When the webpage  is refreshed we find that scrolling still does not work
4. Finally I disable Avast plugin in Chrome to show that scrolling starts functioning as it should

Questions?

Judging by your video, you have tested the wrong scrolling )) You should have clicked on arrows right next to the picture in order to switch from one picture to another.
Please see again exactly what I did in my video to test scrolling

I do my scrolling with the mouse. I certainly had no intentions on clicking on the like button.

You have scrolled the entire page instead of scrolling the top picture. You see? That's exactly why I complained that Avast blocks scrolling ))))))

This time you've scrolled the right thing. However, looking at the picture you've attached, I can notice that we have different settings for Avast plugin (please see below the picture with my settings that I highlighted for convenience of perception).

In my view, judging by the names of above settings, NONE of them should have nothing  to do with scrolling.

So frankly I still dont understand what I need to do in order to keep the settings, but unblock scrolling on this particular webpage ? ??

If the problem can be resolved with AOS as you mentioned earlier, would you please clarify in more detail what AOS exactly does and where you got it?

Here are my settings for AOS:

You can compare that with yours and see which setting if any makes a difference.
You start by disabling AOS extension in the chrome settings and see if that is actually what's causing it.

Please see below my settings

Which one of them blocks scrolling and why, would you please explain the logic in Avast?

It's your computer, you'll need to figure out which setting it is.
I'm still not convinced that it has anything to do with AOS which is why I suggest you disable it first and see if that fixes the problem.

I have found the one. It's due to "Block ad tracking by default". When it's off, then the problem persists
So what should I do next? Or perhaps not me, but Avast
