Having a new problem now, w/ a newly non-functioning plug-and-play Logitech headset/mic (which had been working well since 09-01-2015). My laptop (Specs at end of post) does not recognize it. Odd that malfunction started 08-25-2016 not too long after I installed 12.3.2280 Internet Security update offline using the exe, AFTER the two failed direct downloads. Could the failed 2 downloads have created any issues? Dumb question, thought I'd ask.
After searching the internet, I have tried almost every fix suggested on reputable forums, including stuff as simple as disconnecting the laptop from the power source and restarting.
NOTE: Just checked and headset/mic work on my old Dell PC with free Avast antivirus v. 11.2.2262 My Logitech device works perfectly in the PC, showing up correctly in the Sound tab as default device for the Dell P.C.
For my laptop so far Microsoft no help, Logitech no help, Realtek no help. Will try avast! forum for this and use acer as last resort. Have not done a system restore, though that's an option. Was holding off on system restore as it would delete an earlier lengthy Windows update. (As I said earlier, I have not updated Win 10 w/ Anniversary Update).
SPECS: I have an acer Aspire V3-571w/Windows 10 Home Edition (not switched to Anniversary Update, thank goodness), dual booted w/ Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I have single drive HDD. The healthy acer partition of 388.63 GB NFTS is 85% free.
Headset/mic is Logitech H390, w/ USB 2.0, plug-and-play, as I understand.
Thanks in advance. Sorry if duplicate, but canot find this in threads.
