Mozilla CEO Slams Microsoft for Reverting Back to Shady Browser Wars Tactics

Not really "news". Those tactics and misrepresentations have been going on since the old Internet Explorer and Netscape wars. :)

I guess it will require a big fine from the EU again to make them sit up and take note about user choice and anti-competitive practices.

This and the forced windows update function in win10, so much for MS having learnt their lesson about listening to users in the fiasco that was win8.0.

I actually enjoyed Windows 8. It was even faster than Windows 10 and the third party choices for a start menu bypassed most peoples objections once they discovered it.
Windows 10 is basically an upgrade of Windows 8.1 :)

Thanks David,
Even Windows 10 didn't fix this. Wish the forum would. :)

All because Firefox usage has been declining rapidly around the world.

Hi Dch48,

Microsoft was fined earlier in Europe for doing excactly the same thing, frustrating default browser choice.
And now one would think this is a second strike offense: Commission fines Microsoft for non-compliance with browser choice commitments 06 March 2013
http://ec.europa.eu/competition/consumers/web_browsers_choice_en.html
Has nothing to do whether it is firefox, Google chrome or Opera for that matter.
Oh wait it seems now that  IE dropped enough in popularity that MS is free again to ignore Blue E's rivals on the old continent:

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

I know all about what was done in Europe earlier. I thought at the time it was ridiculous and still do. Microsoft's stance now is that the provisions imposed on them in that case have now expired. The new screen they give should be more than good enough to inform people of their choices.

(Use at your own risk) Privacy also comes with a price. Cortana will not work after
these changes have been applied. I'm sure that some other functions will also be negatively effected.
I made my changes manually since I wanted to use Cortana.
I also know that privacy in this world is really a myth. :)

Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4 for Windows 10

I like the easy access this utility offers to some of the Windows 10 functions.
(I don't like tweaking tools. If you use this to Tweak Windows 10, you do so at your own risk.)
