hi, i get the same error message as well, please help,  :) thank you

Go to Programs and Features and instead of uninstalling AVG, use REPAIR function. That, for some reason fixed the issue. Just not ure why it happened in the first place...

Though not sure why it got broken all by itself all of a sudden. This shouldn't be happening.

with avg IS beta 17.1.3006
why i got this error
1. 17.1.3006 is the final version, it is not beta.
2. You receive this error because it was a known bug in previous beta versions and Avast somehow decided to release the final version without fixing the bugs.
3. Try logging in into an AVG account, they said it was a workaround for the beta bug.

Mine also says beta but it is not.

Whilst I'm not using the AVG beta or release version, I may have some sort of explanation.

Some time ago the avast UI used to have Beta in the UI, we were told this was because we were on the beta testing stream. Having previously run the beta version, you would get the next beta version if one was released.

Users of the regular avast release version aren't offered the beta version, but those who did would be offered it as a program update.

So I just wonder if something like this is going on here.
A clean reinstall of AVG or Avast would normally take you off the beta stream, so you shouldn't see the Beta branding or be offered the beta.

I'm not sure, this bug with the not-protected in Zen but okay in AV was in the previous beta, they should have fixed it. It's a 1 percent chance that it is a new bug. I somehow feel like only AVG Zen is in beta now. I think i'll just thrash AVG because it's out of beta and move to Avast's one.  ;D If it needs more testing i don't really care, they should have kept AVG in beta if that was the case.

I had the same error. Repair did not work. The only fix was to uninstall it and install Avast instead.

The AV is okay, just the Zen reports falsely that the AV has some issues.

I'll never use AVG because of Zen. That stupid thing totally pisses me off.
I don't know if it is possible to install AVG without Zen.

@Avast: So I am using my Windows 7 SP1 desktop computer (fully updated). I have AVG installed on this and it's the 2017 version and the one I have installed is version 17.1.3006 and in this avast forum it says 17.1.3005. Since Avast bought AVG why they completely have two different versions of AVG? Here is the beta and in the AVG website it's the final release?
