Too many troubles with  Avast 17.1.2286  >:(

How to re-install Avast 12.3.2280 ? (without using a restore point) and where to find the full installer ?
Just uninstall Avast 17.1.2286. Search for Avast 12.3.2280 offline installer download. Should bring up plenty of download locations. Reinstall Avast 12.3.2280.

Did the same because of obvious performance drops.

Hi there,

Just didn't find no real Avast 12.3.2280 offline installer ... even on lots of websites which indicate it's Avast 12.3.2280 offline installer which is to be downloaded ... In fact the file is signed from the 07/02/2017 and it's the version 17.1.2286  >:( >:( >:(

By the way i found i got a restore point from the 06 february, though i previously stopped and uncheck the "Avast Service" to be in automatic in "services.msc", reboot in safe mode with network, and launch the process to restore from that restore point.

Everything's went fine, and i just had to re-install 2 programs i installed between 06/02 and 07/02

My PC (seven Pro 64 bits) is much more responding and efficient since that roll back  :P

It is not that simple guys ;)

A major release ( date ) has to be planned in advance, because it has to be carefully coordinated with several Avast departments as well.
It will only been postponed if something seriously is wrong.
Not for some bugs.

Greetz, Red.

I call rendering a system unusable a pretty serious bug don't you?
I'll put it another way. 9 computers running windows 10. All systems had Comodo firewall & Avast AV including my own, (system 10) Been working perfectly fine until a pop up showing Avast has been updated to the latest version. All worked fine until the systems were rebooted. Some systems loading into desktop, but process error's occure for startup programs. Control panel unresponsive & opening msconfig to set the computer to reboot into safe mode just didn't happen. Some other systems loaded with a black screen with mouse courser & 1 system loaded the login screen background picture & nothing else.

I'm a software & Hardware engineer. I don't know the exact cause for these error's but I do know 1 thing. Uninstalling Comodo firewall & re installing avast works. Avast will not work with Comodo firewall. Now considering Comodo firewall is a very popular firewall. Advising people to uninstall Comodo, change firewall or even the nerve to suggest subscribing for your very own firewall to fix the problem is just damn right disgraceful. I have the support ticket reply for evidence if required!

The problem is with some part of Avast that renders the system useless. Unless that person knows how to fix this by removing avast. I'm pretty sure they'll ether reset or pay someone to fix it for them & I'm sure they'll lose data!

I've wrote software for companies I'm not legally allowed to name. I'm telling you right now that a bug that renders a system unusable isn't a minor bug. It's a pretty serious bug & knowing of such bugs & proceeding to release the update, open's you up to legal challenges! Put it this way. If I ran Avast on my companies machines & this update rendered them unusable for any period of time. I'd consult my legal dept to take you to court!

Try turning off the Comodo Firewall.

My wife's Dell was bricked by this update this morning, so this is not a bug, it's a serious defect in the program coding.  :'(

Hello guys, is a new Gaming mode available on Windows XP? I'm asking it because one user with Windows XP installed doesn't have this component and there is no any words in release notes about OS requirements for using it.

Highly doubt it's available for XP.

No it isn't, this point has been confirmed by an avast team member.

5 pages on ... but alas no answer to the question of the lost user-defined scans. Any takers?

Also, I cannot pause scans anymore. Any ideas?

With all of these detrimental issues one does start to wonder, why one needed this update so badly.

Hi guys,

my user-defined scans are gone w/ the update last night  ???
How do I retrieve them? I don't really want to rebuild them from scratch and go thru all the options yet again.

Part of the problem is posting directly in the notification topic for the release of 17.1.2286, it is a massive topic and posts can get buried. It would have been better to have started your own new topic.

After the fact, this isn't going to help, but something for the future, before doing a program update it would be worth while to backup your avast settings. AvastUI > Settings > general - Scroll to the bottom of the screen - Back up settings.

That aside - With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

Seems like there was small update:
17.1.3394 to 17.1.3394.30

I don't know about that as I'm sure I can recall that being there before and not just 17.1.3394. I think even a small update would result in the .3394 part being increased.

I captured an image each time the build number has changed to see when Avast has made changes without requiring a program update. It was February 10 when I received the .30 update.
