Avast trying to install new helper tool

So when I go to manually update my Avast virus killer it says "Avast is trying to install a new helper too" and it wants my Apple password to get in. Is this legitimate or part of the VBA:Malware-gen fiasco? Thanks.

Avast free 12.5

iMac OSX 10.9.5

If I try to manually update Avast is says "Avast is trying to install a new helper tool" and wants me to sign it in with my Apple password (or downloads can't happen)


This legitimate or what?
