avast free home edition, *which* license?
« on: March 09, 2006, 12:02:19 AM »
i'm in the process of making an avast4workstation ebuild for gentoo linux, but all ebuilds require that you specify which license the app is released under.  i can't seem to find ANY license agreements anywhere except the LGPL stuff for the modified gtk+/libx11/etc.  can anyone point me in the right direction?

if any gentoo users are interested you can try out the ebuild here: http://ebuildexchange.org/eshow.php?id=10211

It is a closed-source (custom) license. Isn't the EULA part of the install package?

well the "installer" is just "tar -zxf avast4workstation-1.0.4.tar.gz".  I have looked through all included files and not found any license docs at all (besides the lgpl for esmtp/gtk/etc).  I'll try to get access to a windows box to try the windows installer and see if it has a eula.

Thanks, and I'll make sure the eula file is added to the next refresh of the Linux package...

Thanks

*seems* to work ok w/ nptl if you just disable the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL lines in the wrapper script, i made a tiny patch to make that change for nptl-only users.  oh, just for gentooers i guess though:

dublin:  i borrowed some of your ebuild code for the kde stuff, combined it w/ mine which also allows a CLI-only install.

Hi,
I've prepared an ebuild package for avast4workstation-1.0.5. It's modified version of your ebuild. Please, can you check it:
