Avast Free Antivirus - passwrd forgotton
« on: March 24, 2017, 01:51:08 PM »
I went to do a scan and when asked for the passwrd I forgot it and can do nothing. I tried downloading and hoped it would override the old one but did not. went to control panel and tried to delete the program and would not let me without a password. i can do nothing without it. Is her a way to recover the password or just start fresh? Windows 8.1 and firefox. :'(
PEACE!

1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions..!!)
3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.

Another simple solution is to write down your passwords.
I keep a loose leaf notebook for my two laptops. In that notebook
I keep passwords, browser and system information.
Even in this day of computers a pencil and paper are still powerful tools.

Thx Asyn and paranoid where do you hide the paper? (you have to with that name)......oh you forgot. I do have that paper...but was busy when I did it with many things that HAD to be done and yes it did not make the paper....my fault and I do not trust password software to store my passwords. Many thanks this is a gr8 product and forum...I have been using the FREE version for 4-5 years now and am pleased - the paid version must be kick a55!
PEACE!
