Why Avast looks like this ?
« on: March 17, 2006, 07:50:07 PM »
Hi,

I use SuSE 10.0 OSS. In my computer Avast looks like this.

Why is this so ?

Looks like that in Fedora RC4 as well.

I thought the beta version looked nicer.

Run "avastgui" from Konsole and see if you get any theme errors.

First snapshot is from using the icon to start avast as root.  The second is from starting avast from Konsole in Super User mode.  Third snapshot is the Konsole starting avast from Konsole as root, which presents the same avast interface as snapshot1.

Culpeper, couldn't be your different 'themes' and 'desktop' options for appearance both in root and non-root user accounts?

It is possible but I don't understand the Avast error message from the terminal window.  If it was just a difference in themes there shouldn't be an error message.  But I get that same error message when using #su.  The only time I don't get the error message is when I use #su -

I know that if you start Avast from the icon you won't see the terminal window but I know the error is still occurring based on the interface.

Try starting Avast using #avastgui from the terminal window as:

#user

#su

#su -

And let me know if you see any error messages or not.  Thanks.
