This is happening to me also after the latest update (17.3.2291, build 17.3.3443.0) but it takes 5 or 6 seconds - I have an older chip but running Windows 10 pro.

Sometimes on my Dell Demension 8200 P4 running XP PRO SP3 the behavior shield comes up as not enabled. Has happened twice so far. Avast Free 17.3.2291 build 17.3.3443.0 ... This has not happened on my Toshiba Laptop with Windows 10 Home 64 Bit ... Not sure where the glitch is, but at least now I know it is not just me or my computer.

Repair Avast:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> Avast
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

I had already tried that. And it only happens on the XP PRO SP3 computer .. Also I am not the only one experiencing this intermittent issue. It started just after the update to V2291 (possibly after the sub update just after that) .. Someone has a small bug in the program codes. Hopefully, they will fix it in the next release.

My XP Pro SP3 system is the only one that has avast free 17.3.2291 installed, I have the Behaviour Shield installed and running no problem. I just wonder if there are any restrictions for XP SP3 that some systems my not have, thereby disabling the behaviour shield.

Just an update: As of April 30 this has started happening again on the Dell 8200 with XP PRO SP3 .. not sure why this is and hopefully, it is being fixed in the current Beta (2294 I think it is) ... This is not happening on the Windows 10 64 Home Toshiba Laptop and it can be reenabled, but it should not turn off by itself.

Problem still happening on my Dell 8200 with Windows XP PRO SP3 .. when I first boot up, all are enabled and about 5 minutes later, I find the Behavior Shield has disabled itself. It can be reenabled and seems to stay (can't say for how long as  I typically will use this computer for about 2 hours) .. This has not happened on the Toshiba Laptop with Windows 10 Home 64 Bit OS .. This is Avast Free 17.4.2294 (build 17.4.3482.0) ... and yes, I tried a Repair of Avast yesterday. Needless to say, this is annoying.

If a repair doesn't solve things, perform a clean installation of the latest version ans check if the problem is solved.

On my Windows 7 computer, I find that the Behavior Shield is turned off every time my computer boots. I ran a repair, and after going through the process, it said that it is conflicting with Malwarebyes, and to turn that off. I want to run both Malwarebytes and another antivirus program. So, will Avast not tolerate Malwarebytes?

As has been explained in threads here as well as on the malewarebytes forum, you need to set a exclusion for MBam in avast and the other way around.

Last couple of days on the Dell Dimension 8200 XP PRO SP3 box (P4 at 1.8Ghz, 2GB RAM) the behavior shield was not enabled on boot up. Was able to turn it back on and it seems to stay. Not sure if it is better to wait about 30 seconds or so after the Windows Login box appears to click Login or not. Perhaps Avast can change the Priority that the behavior shield process uses so that it loads up quicker.
