2294 webshield bug(s)
« on: May 04, 2017, 04:15:25 PM »
Windows 10, creators update.
44.0.2510.1449 (PGO)
No other security software installed.

Since the latest update sites do not open when the webshield is enabled.
Everything is working fine when the webshield is disabled.
It happens with all sites, these are just two of them :
https://forum.avast.com/ (Yes, this webboard!)
http://radioplayer.npo.nl/radio2/

Repair/clean installation does not solve it.

It seems very much to be the case.

Things like this should already be discovered in Alpha testing and if not in Beta testing.
Makes me wonder if things are even get tested at all.
If so, it is done in a real poor way.

Wasn't the port scan bug within the avast firewall ?

But this topic is about web shield bugs, I just can't see how fixing a bug in the firewall could generate one in the web shield.

I wasn't sure from your post which version of Avast you are now using. I can access those sites using that Opera with (Free) .2294 (with webshield) installed on Windows 10 Pro x64.  How odd. I don't have Avast Online Security installed in the browser and my system hasn't yet updated to Creator's Edition.

As you can see on the French forum about v2294 here , it happened to 3 other users (carroussel w7-64,darjeeling w7-64 and msaatsaz w7-32) for now.

strange enough that without major changes avast manages to create a bug that did not exist before  :-\

Looks like the latest VPS (170504-2) also contained a micro fix.
It is working as it should again, but I am gonna do some testing.

I think the fix was not for a particular site but for all sites issue as Eddy first said.

I have no problems at all opening that site.
Others don't have a problem either.
Could very well be a system specific problem.
