Avast SecureLine can't detect internet anymore

I have been using Avast SecureLine for about 1 year. Since this morning, it fails to detect wireless internet connections: "It seems that you're offline, please make sure your internet connection work properly and try again. Clearly, the internet connection works ... what is causing this?

Multiple possibilities.

Try connecting directly to your modem or router.  Does that work?
