Huawei P10
« on: June 08, 2017, 08:24:05 AM »
This afternoon I went on to look for a brand new phone not buy it today. My chosen phone is the Huawei P10 and I was going through that phone and i saw that the security that is provided with this phone is by Avast Antivirus. My question is this, when I buy that phone do I have to install the Avast Mobile Security or not, because it's security is provided by Avast Antivirus?

Hi Staticguy,
from my perspective answer cannot be unbiased since I work for Avast for couple of years  :), but if you install both apps, they shouldn't interfere. I'm not sure how strong/developed/feature/rich is integrated Huawei protection, but we do offer additional features like Web Shield or App Locking, not just protection against malicious apps. So I'll leave it up to you. Phone should work as intended anyway, it's more about the features you'd like to use.

Thanks,
Tomas

I would like to know whether the preinstalled avast version in the Huawei P10 has a real-time protection?

It should have it, but best is to ask Huawei as they are the ones who now what exactly is installed.

Hi Tomas,

Thanks for your information  :). Really helped me to decide right now  :). I will look into it and perhaps go search to Huawei (Facebook page) and ask them about this.

Just now i asked about this to the Huawei Facebook page and now waiting for an answer. Will update new information after I receive it.

Reply from Huawei Mobile: The virus scanner has no real-time function.

Makes you wonder if they take security serious or not.

Here is your car sir.
If you want to move forward, you must push it.

I gave a message to Huawei via FB messenger and they have seen my message but they haven't replied as of yet. I will give them a call and see what they say about the Avast security built in into Huawei P10.

I'm wondering to use VPN when the Avast Anti-virus is protected. Should i turn-off the avast while using VPN or not?
