Who is blocking ads?
« on: April 09, 2006, 12:48:06 AM »
Hi firefox or flock browser users,

What is your favourite formula to block ads.
I have Adblock Plus combined with the Filterset G updater.
For the remainder of browser objects I do not like I have a nice extension NukeAnything (ported it myself for Flock) for hiding almost anything via context menu. It returns after a single F5.

I know webmasters and ad-revenue makers are not applauding, but anyway I like it this way. And you?

I use this minimal list- it's enough to filter out the most irritating adds.

http://mysite.verizon.net/rick752/firefox/adblock_filter_list.htm

I've tried other lists which filter out my own ISP's adds on my startup page. For me, this was going too far. These were 1cm button adds for services at the top of the page, and blocking them just left ugly 'holes'.

It's quite a shock now when I try Opera to see how many adds there really are on most pages!

I use the free (donations accepted) AdFree 3.2 which blocks almost all ads.
