Hi All

Should we remove Avast and patch Defender when the patches are out for the newly discovered vulnerabilities or just leave Avast in and hope the patches apply anyways?

As Don't know if it's truly off in Creators Update even with Avast installed, so that is why i'm concerned on this issue

It is really foolish to remove avast (or any other av for that matter) and use Defender.
Defender is only a simple basic scanner (MS says so themselves) and lacks all the detections a nowadays av has.

Eddy@ Basic scanner is Defender of old, on windows 10 it's a completely different beast and does quite well in tests, that being said...if Defender is set to do secondary scanning in windows 10 with avast installed then signatures/patches should still install automatically.

Ok Thank you Eddy and CraigB,  yeah not planning on uninstalling Avast at all, just would feel safer with Defender all patched up when patch available to do that, so will just turn on limited periodic scanning when I hear the patch is released, let it update, then turn if off I think again, as trust Avast a tons more than I do Defender
