Interface opens to a white page

Just downloaded and installed Free Avast on a win XP machine. Avast appears to be working but when I open the interface page it displays a blank white page.
I did go to the control panel, add and remove programs and did a "Repair" Avast. Still get a white interface page.
Any thought on how to correct this?

If Repair doesn't fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:
