Redundant Windows 10 Services?
« on: August 12, 2017, 03:19:47 PM »
Are there any services in Windows 10 that we can disable, remove and/or uninstall that are made redundant by Avast Premiere?  I always feel weird having multiple anti-virus programs running, and it seems like there's at least one or two (possibly more?) scanners built-in to Windows 10.  I know that Avast's official policy seems to be "we co-exist" but if two scanners are scanning everything all the time, that seems like a lot of overhead.

If the answer is "we co-exist" from Avast, can you please explain -how- you co-exist with Windows 10 services such as Windows Defender and the like?  Is there a way that Avast tells Windows "Hey, I'm here, you don't have to scan anything anymore?" or are you guys just guessing?

Thanks!

Hi, Avast should shut down WD on install.

- Which version of Premier..?
- OS..? (32/64 Bit..? - which SP/Build..?)
- Other security related software installed..?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast..?
W8.1 [x64] - Avast Free AV 23.3.8047.BC [UI.757] - Firefox ESR 102.9 [NS/uBO/PB] - Thunderbird 102.9.1
Avast-Tools: Secure Browser 109.0 - Cleanup 23.1 - SecureLine 5.18 - DriverUpdater 23.1 - CCleaner 6.01

Actually, in Windows 10, Defender get's shut off as soon as a third party AV is registered.
This is done by the OS not by Avast or any other 3rd party AV.
