What about update it manually? (through their website)
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

no doubt that it will work but the problem is that happens very often with avast software updater.
This tool is supposed to help avast users with time saving to update sensitive programs, but the result is not always the appointment. :-[

be sure you have manualy updated FP ActiveX and not FP for others browsers
be sure to refresh software updater by refresh button inside (right top)

Also possible to reset SU database in avast settings -> componants -> SU -> personalize -> reset database

Hello samsimonusa,

thank you for the report. Could you please attach your Software Updater log file (typical location is C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\swhealthex.log) to this topic? Also, what OS version do you have?

Thank you in advance,
Regards.

@  ActiveX
What operating system have you got ?

If Windows 10, the Flash Player update (ActiveX version) is handled by the Windows Update, that could possibly be the issue.

That said, checking my Avast Software Updater, it also showed Flash Player ActiveX version (Windows Update), it also showed Thunderbird needed an update.

I had only intended to update Thunderbird and clicked the Update tab for that, but it also Updated the ActiveX Flash player and now the software updater reports it as being up to date.

That said 2:  I'm not running the 17.7.2314 version of avast free.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Strange why there is no indicator for "activeX" it's just Flash Player...

Reset Database helped - thanks!)

Cannot attache "swhealthex.log"

"Your attachment couldn't be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.
Please consult your server administrator for more information."

I have two swhealthex.(old/log) files the swhealthex.log is only 286KB on my winXP system (with avast 17.72314 version).  I have also noticed a softwarehealth.log file in the same folder.

The swhealthex.old file wouldn't be accepted because of the .old file type and it is well in excess of 1024Kb file size.

The .log file should be accepted, the maximum individual file is 1024KB, 1Mb. Does your file exceed this size ?

, there is one and only FP for windows https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
in the link , look at "need FP for other computer" (or something like that , I'am french)
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
For you:
Step1 : Windows7/Vista/XP
Step2 : FP 27 for Internet Explorer - Active X

for direct installation (without going through the steps above), you have to open the link with IE and not with another browser like FF or chrome

Or have a look at
 https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html

Still having problems?

Still having problems?

If you are still having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player, try downloading the installer directly from the following sites:

Flash Player for Internet Explorer - ActiveX
Flash Player for Firefox - NPAPI
Flash Player for Opera and Chromium-based browsers - PPAPI
