Lets put it this way I have run it on both XP and win10 systems and it doesn't do the Network Scan during the Smart Scan but outside of it.

Avast have said this from the last beta, which is now the current release version.
new beta version 17.7.2314 (build 17.7.3660.0) is released.

What's new:
    <snip>
    • Wifi Inspector scan is now started parallel in Smart Scan to speed up whole Smart Scan
    <snip>
    AVAST Team.
Part of the problem here are the subtle differences which cause confusion WiFi Inspector and Network Scan.  Which as far as I'm concerned should be one scan that does both.

If you actually run a smart scan from the main avastUI button, it doesn't give you any choice and it only runs the WiFi Inspector (but outside of the smart scan).

If however you open the UI > Protection > WiFi Inspector - this gives you a Network Scan button that also includes the WiFi Inspector scan. As clear as MUD.

It's a bloody mess.[/list]

On my XP machine "Network Threats" scan appears within the Smart Scan. See screenshots below.
But same not true on Win10 machine.
Are you seeing something different than me on your XP machine, although running same latest release version. (not a Beta).

I can only post what is on my screen during a smart scan and Network Threats isn't there on XP or win10 smart scans.

I have Avast 17.7.2314 (build 17.7.3660.244) not a Beta. I just did another repair of avast for the hell of it, but has not changed behaviour of Smart Scan. I have Win10 Home 1703.
My Smart Scan settings and corresponding Smart Scan actions appear in screen shots attached. Like DavidR, I can only show what I am actually seeing myself.
Whilst this strange behaviour of Smart Scan is not critical to Avast's primary role as anti-virus, it is inconsistent with the settings. Note. This was not the case until quite recently, so is result of an update.

The Network scan isn't a component, WiFi Inspector is, that is displayed as Network Threats (in your image), but not in either of our images.

This whole area is a bloody mess, different names for what is essentially the same thing, Network Threats and WiFi Inspector.  You run a Network Scan and if you happen to be using WiFi then it should scan those if not then it doesn't scan them.

Bob,
I do not have Privacy or Performance related components installed, but do have WiFi Inspector. That works fine stand-alone.
