Exclude should not run correctly
« on: May 08, 2006, 01:04:09 PM »
I don't know if this is a real bug. I am amazing but when I would like to scan without a known false alarm avoiding the files in question (see the topic "false alarm... in this forum) I put  their names in the exclude window.

Unfortunatly, avast  announces an alarm nevertheless.

What I have done wrong....  :-[

You have to enter full file path, with filename and extension.

For example:

C:\Program Files\Some program\program.exe

Yes indeed! I did it but using the check box giving this kind of definition: "c\program files\spamweed\*" because I want to exclude all the files from this folder. That was generated by avast.

Well there are two types of Exclusion. One for realtime (Standard Shield) and other for On-Demand scan (in Program Settings...). Make sure you set the correct one!

Ok, this is something I didn't know that exist, I can understand it, but I red again the help and don't find an other place to setup the exclusions except in the program setup. I have done a search in the index of the help, no more chance!  :o

For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the 'a' blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button...

For the other providers (on-demmand scanning):
Right click the 'a' blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button...

You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be carefull, you should 'exclude' that many files that let your system in danger.
The best things in life are free.
