Email not being saved in "sent items" folder
« on: May 26, 2006, 12:11:02 AM »
Good morning, I have Avast 4.7.827installed. Since installing a week ago, no emails are being saved in the sent items folder in OE.  I have searched threads, and nothing seems to have been solved, but lots of suggestions of things to try. I have checked a squillion times in tools/options in OE, to see that the right boxes are ticked. I have tried disabling Avast, and still crook. Isuggest that Avast install has somehow changed something in OE, but have no idea where to start. Any help from you fellas........defence rests...

avast doesn't have the ability to do that it can't block email or stop them being saved, etc. unless the email happens to be infected and your input would be required for action.

No problem here with either OE saving sent files whilst avast is running.

Are there any diferences with the emails, attachments, etc.

A google search for repair outlook express returns many hits:

Thanks for your advice. The save sent item box has been ticked, unticked, rebooted, ticked, rebooted....etc. I'm gonna put this prob on hold until I return from my holidays.......

I thought you might have done that, just seeking confirmation, looks like you will have to investigate the links I gave after your hollidays.

Welcome to the forums, happy holiday.

David, thanks, but i have just solved the problem. My reason for installing Avast was a suspected virus because of occasional reboots, and no drives being found. I also changed the boot sequence. At the time, I'm guessing I have somehow scrolled the date back a month. So emails were being saved, just that OE obviously gets its date time info from bios and not XP.....
