Problems with Outllook 2003 and IE
« on: June 05, 2006, 07:43:47 PM »
Hi,

I encounter several problems:
Since a few days, Outlook 2003 is unable to send any mail (error 800CCC0F). Outlook express and aol mail work fine.
I googled this error and tried to deactivate avast (all avast providers or only Outlook/Exchange provider).
And i realized that, when avast is stopped, IE was unable to connect.

Some elements of configuration:
ISP: AOL
Firewall: Kerio
Antivirus: Avast
Mail: Outlook 2003

Have you any information that would help me to understand/solve this problem ?

Regards,

Stephane

Can you check into Kerio configurations if the the following programs should be allowed to connect:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Setup\avast.setup (avast! Update executable)

Don't need rights to connect:
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exe (avast! antivirus service)
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashUpdSv.exe (avast! Update Service)

thanks for replying

i checked:
- it's ok for avast Web scanner and avast setup
- but no allowance for avast web scanner

do i need to add allowance for avast web scanner (outlook express and aol mailer already work fine)?

It won't harm... I'm not sure but *maybe* the HTML parts of the emails could use WebShield  ::) ???
It won't harm if you test.

Hi,

I tried to add allowance for avast web scanner.
No difference.

And the problem seems to be worse than i was thinking:
I uninstalled avast.
And then, it was impossible to access to internet through IE until i reinstall avast.
Internet access through AOL worked fine.
