Serious bug in Avast??
« on: June 08, 2006, 07:23:44 PM »
I downloaded the eicar test virus, and Avast prompted me to choose an action. I clicked "more info", and avast crashed. after waiting for a bit, i tried to close the warning prompt, but it wasnt responding, so i had to force it to close. the eicar test file then downloaded to my desktop,  and i was able to open it!!

I tested this on my desktop pc also, and the same thing happens.

Im using the latest version of avast, xp home (laptop) and pro (desktop pc).

What do you mean exactly...?
Does an error message appear?

Which was your security level (Standard Shield)?
Do you have any other antivirus in your computer?

Web Shield is on custom settings and Standard shield is on normal.

When it crashes, it didnt give an error, it just stopped responding, and also firefox hanged as well, until i forced avast to close.

there are no other AV softwares installed, and Standard shield is on normal setting.

@Spiritsongs, i only have win defender running in the background, and no other 3rd party tools.
