For you too.

I use Outlook Express.

So can i turn off the outlook/exchange provider? Or does the internet mail provider depend on the outlook/exchange provider?

No the Internet Mail provider does not depend on the MS Outlook/Exchange provider. They are independent.

Will it make any significant difference to the ram utilisation? I dont like to run unnecessary services

Nobody likes it... Although it will not be a significant ammount of resources, you must turn off this providers (and all other you do not use): common sense, like you said, that nobody wants to 'loose' resources.

Hope I can help in anyway...
