Galaxy S9+ Security Issue
« on: April 09, 2018, 02:52:09 PM »
My phone was locked. A notification popped up Avast was asking to free up RAM. Without unlocking I clicked on Free RAm now button  it freed up the RAM but it unlocked the phone. Thats a vulnerability anyway you look at it. I left my phone, app pushes a notification thief now has access to my phone.

Doesn't the S9 use facial recognition to unlock :-\

Hi John. We were not able to reproduce such behavior.

Generally, tapping notification cannot bypass security of the phone. You always have to unlock the phone in such cases. As CraigB mantioned, phone was probably unlocked by Face Recognition or Iris Scanner while you tapped on the notification.

If you want to verify that, try to disable Face recognition and Iris Scanner, set up e.g. Pattern as a method of unlocking and try to tap on a notification while phone is locked.

Hope it helps.
