Hi Neal ,
This topic caught my eye as I've just installed Opera 9 . I'm very impressed with the browser; took about 2 minutes to install and get online . I occasionally use Torrent files to download large files like Auto Patcher as I have 56kb DialUp and the pause / resume function is often not possible with download managers and some sites , whereas peer 2 peer sharing , if you can find some peers is very handy.
Can't believe how smooth Opera is. Very intuitive ... I like it !

Abraxas,

Very happy you've chosen Opera. I'm a beta tester for Opera. I'm very happy to link up Betas as they come through and believe it or not Opera released Build 505 Opera 9.0.1 today. I have it in the UPDATES! Thread. Go by and check it out  :)

And yes, Indeed the Torrent feature is a nice throw in but aren't Torrents somewhat illegal? As I've done some searching and there is alot of sites that contain free downloads to Whole Band Albums such as Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, Etc.  :-\ And I think that this whole design to throw in Torrent downloading is not a good thing but what do you think?

As far as Torrent files and Bit Torrent I really can't figure why they would include this feature.  I agree that a lot of Torrent files are of pirated origin and illegal so this seems like a very silly idea .
My first impressions of Opera 9 are that it looks and feels like a good Browser for kids, or novice users ; not too many Advanced features unless you go looking for them. Personally I download Auto-Patcher from NeoWin Forums every 4 months or so , they have a Torrent file feature which is handy as I'm on dial-up . It's a great backup of Win Updates and other useful progs .  I can download a 200 MB file over a couple of days .
I really can't think why Bit Torrent would be included as a "Widget" in Opera , kind of stupid really  ???

Not all torrents are illegal guys.... Infact alot of free programs(e.g. linux distro's) are distributed as torrents in order to cut down bandwidth costs(Abraxas gave a fine example of Auto Patcher)... How about if you wanted to share some files(like pictures from your birthday party) with your friends and you don't have a server to put those files on there, the best way then would be to make a torrent file and give it to your friends... I really think bittorrent is a great thing and a very good way to download/share files with your friends and due to the fact that more and more company's and individuals are deciding to put their files(programs, tutorials etc.) on the bittorrent network i wouldn't exactly call Opera's move to implement bittorrent support in their browser stupid quite the contrary i understand and support it ....

Just my 2 cents guys ;)

Cheers,

Mikey

If you did read my post I was meaning in Music. On the news there have been alot of reports of sites having Full Band Albums for download and it's free. My case on this is very high cause do you have any Idea how much money the record companys loose each year just because more and more people are using  and switching to these Programs LimeWire, Kazaa, Ares, Etc.? Heck even a friend of mine downloaded and burned a whole brand new release Album from a band which pretty much pissed me off.
