Error notice
« on: June 27, 2006, 01:38:23 AM »
I have recently installed Avast Antivirus, since then I get an error msg every time I start my computer. I am running windows xp in a Compaq laptop,Presario 900. I have Avast 4.7, home edition. Message reads:( Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~1.DLL. The specified module could not be found.) :-\ Is this something related to Avast? I don't seem to be having a problem with anything so don't know what I should do about it. Can you tell me how to restore or delete it, whichever is necessary ? Thank-you  Karen

Did you do a boot time scan, as mentioned in the link in previous post ? Or check out the fixes in the links in this post?

These refer to removing the offendding dll.  Page two might be of interest.

Good luck!

 :)  Hi Karen :

You should be following the advise I gave at :

      http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=21578.0

Since you have uninstalled Netdotnet from Add/Remove
Programs, the next step should be using Ewido from :
www.ewido.net/en . Since there is no info from you as to
the presence of an antiSPYWARE program on your computer,
I recommend you use Ewido's "Online Scanner" by clicking
the "Scan now" tab in the upper left-hand portion of the
web page. If this does NOT resolve your problem AND since
Netdotnet is primarily SPYWARE, I would recommend you
      ask for help on the forums of your antiSPYWARE Provider;
if you know of none, I recommend www.landzdown.com .
It appears from the "Error Message" that there is a portion
of Newdotnet on your computer that was NOT removed
when you used the "Uninstall" from Add/Remove .
